Bringing solutions to the table
The Maryland Commission on Climate Change issued a report this summer laying out strategies for reducing global warming pollution in the state. The report also includes a comprehensive assessment of global warming impacts and recommendations on adapting to sea level rise and other global warming impacts.
The report is the result of more than one hundred meetings and conference calls by the committees and subcommittees of the commission. Environment Maryland served on three of those committees. The pollution reduction plan includes 42 policy proposals, which were all supported by consensus of the committee members. If all of the policies are adopted quickly, Maryland could cut its emissions in half. The policy package would result in an overall net savings to the state, since many of the policies save more money than they cost.
