Program

Restore the Chesapeake Bay

Our members helped us convince the Environmental Protection Agency and Gov. Martin O'Malley to compose a new plan to clean the Bay. It's our best chance in years to clean up the Bay — and it's time for the rubber to hit the road.

Program

Keep Maryland safe from drilling

Oil and gas companies want to start drilling in Maryland using a dangerous process called hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking."  They want to get started as soon as possible, regardless of the dangerous effects of drilling we’re seeing in nearby states like Pennsylvania.  Well, they’ve got a fight on their hands – thousands of Marylanders are joining our effort to help stop gas drilling from contaminating our drinking water, polluting our air, destroying beautiful land, and threatening our health.

Program

Healthy Farms, Healthy Planet

Expanding Maryland's Farm to School Program will would help local farmers who want to grow food in more sustainable ways—and put fresh, nutritious foods in schools across the state.

Program

Global Warming Solutions

The Maryland Department of Environmental Protection and officials from other Northeastern states are gearing up to make changes to the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, the Northeast region’s landmark pollution program. RGGI caps global warming emissions from power plants and invests in clean energy. With your support, we can convince state officials to strengthen the program so that Maryland cuts more pollution and generates more clean energy.

Program

Clean Energy for Maryland

Too much of our energy comes from dirty sources that harm our environment—but it doesn't have to be that way. We can harness pollution-free energy from the wind and the sun. It's clean, local, and never runs out.

Program

Clean Air, Healthy Families

Clean air standards could cut mercury pollution by 91% and save 17,000 lives each year. The coal industry is trying to block these standards, but we’re urging the EPA to move forward with their commonsense plan to protect public health.
