We have enormous untapped power. Here in Maryland and across America, we can harness the wind and sun to power our future and leave dirty, dangerous energy behind. We’re calling on the president-elect and Maryland's congressional delegation to renew America with 100 percent clean, renewable electricity and to cut our dependence on oil in half.

Background

From Election Day to the Inauguration, we'll work with the next president and Congress to renew America, and to commit to passing legislation that:

• Requires that America generate 100 percent of its electricity from clean, renewable sources such as wind and solar power by 2030;

• Cuts our dependence on oil in half by 2030; and

• Reduces heat-trapping global warming pollution at least 20 percent by 2020 and 80 percent by 2050.

The oil and coal companies are fighting to stay the course: ExxonMobil and other big energy companies are spending millions on political contributions, ads and lobbyists to keep us on the wrong path—pushing more of the same old polluting policies.
