Clean Water

Maryland is home to many unique waterways, from Deep Creek Lake to the Coastal Bays.  The Chesapeake Bay and its source waters are the heart and heritage of this state, but the health of our waters is failing. The fish in our rivers are threatened by disease, the clams are gone in the Coastal Bays, and the Chesapeake Bay is nowhere near on track to meet its restoration deadline of 2010.

Environment Maryland is working on solutions to restore the health of Maryland’s waters, whether threatened by encroaching growth, polluted by nutrients from farms, or fouled by runoff from development.
